Haciendas in Yucatan were part of an economic system begun by the Spanish in the sixteenth century, similar to European feudal system. Initially devoted to corn production, later diversifying its activity to the production of sugarcane, sisal and cattle. This Hacienda became a leading state in the heyday of the Yucatan counting on technological and social advances, rail and all kinds of services for workers, functioning as a small town. It has two churches, a spectacular main house and a beautiful striped house and the ruins of the old tavern, mill and stables.

The oldest buildings date back to shortly after the conquest, in the tradition of the locals in the place stood a large pyramid, which was dismantled and reused for the implementation of some existing buildings, was evident in the huge existing carved stone floors and terraces.
Also there are other more modern buildings dating from the golden age known as the Yucatan (nineteenth century) when this land became enormously rich with culture and marketing of sisal and adopted a type of construction much more spectacular during the Porfirio Diaz.
